Project G.B. Grattoni Edizione 2014 – Seduta

The theme

“The seat” was the theme of the 3rd G. B. Grattoni of 2014. We received 116 projects – more than twice the first and second edition – coming from 19 Italian regions, 4 nations and 2 continents.
We received more than 400 mails, around 240’000 interactions with social. The average age of the participants has been 27 years old (the youngest was 19 and the oldest 51).
An international jury, made by 13 professional profile, met for two consecutive days to decree the winner, the 4 mentions and the honourable mention.
A promoting company, Casabella 1892 from Pavia di Udine, and an industrial partner, the New Life from San Giovanni al Natisone. The theme of this edition, the seat, has been investigated by the participants through innovative and creative proposals: they had the capability to understand the contemporary habits of a specific target, clear in every project. Through concept like interaction, craftmanship and the possibility of personalization.
The winner, in addition to 1000 euro, had the chance to produce and sell his idea thank to a royalties contract stipulated with the New Life srl.
This contract is the most common one for designers and it grants him an economical rewind. In the following lines you can find the winners and the considerations from the jury.

Winner: CROSSBOW

The winner project is call “CROSSBOW” by Giacomo Baldovino form Este (PD). His project is the perfect object deserving the cover: it is minimal, perfect in every detail, original in the combination between the shiny steel and the matt wood that creates a beautiful hug among the structure and the seat.
This object is an icon thanks by the single and unique line. Right now the project is sold by the New Life srl.

Mention: ANTIT3SI

ANTIT3SI is the project of Francesco Vurchio from Adria (BA). It has been recognized for the unusual combination between wood and cement and the capability of reconsider the concept of nomadism in a contemporary way.

Mention: GAME2LAB1

The project GAME2LAB1 by Maria Luisa Tonizzo from San Vito al Tagliamento (PN) has been recognized for its versatility, its “pop” style and its capacity for transformation that looks like a game.

Mention: ISTINTIVA

ISTINTIVA is a project of Eleonora Molaro and Andrea Para from Gemona del Friuli (UD) and it has been awarded for the ability to adapt to the different seat position, from the most comfortable to the

Mention: ARTIIDEE

ARTIIDEE by Andrea Venica and Federcio Bravo, Pavia di Udine (UD) an armchair embellished with detail, the curved body and the rear legs enrich it through the strength of simplicity.

Mention: COP620

COP620 by Riccardo Soncin, Ostilla (MN) for resourcefulness despite youth, for the ability to tell a story through a drawing, a few numbers and a handful of measured words.
